Zoo's All-Season Summer Workshop
The Allwetterzoo Münster, a popular zoological garden in Germany, has welcomed three new residents - Ophelia, Olivia, and Olli, alpacas that have moved from Tierpark Nordhorn. These South American camelids are known for producing high-quality wool and requiring regular shearing.
The alpacas now reside in a redesigned enclosure, previously used for giraffes. This move is part of the zoo's ongoing efforts to provide a diverse range of animal species and interactive experiences for its visitors.
In celebration of the zoo's 150th anniversary, a treasure hunt has been organised with 15 surprise gifts hidden on the grounds. The LVM insurance company is financing this action as part of its social package.
The Allwetterzoo is also offering a diverse summer holiday programme, including guided tours, falconry shows, children's theatre, and the treasure hunt. For families looking to visit, there is a 50% discount on children's tickets, with a limit of 20,000 cards available until 26 August.
In a special action for people with low income, the zoo is offering 1,000 free admission tickets, called "Gönn'-Dir", to holders of the Münster Pass. These tickets are not bookable online and are issued directly upon presentation of the pass. The offer is not related to the upcoming giraffe house renovation or the treasure hunt for the zoo's 150th anniversary.
Eva Beulker from the LVM emphasises that they want to make the visit to the zoo accessible to different social groups. The insurance company has been a partner of the Allwetterzoo for many years and regularly supports corresponding projects.
The zoo is also planning a comprehensive renovation of the giraffe house to accommodate giraffes again in the future. Donations for this project are currently being collected.
For the most accurate and up-to-date information, it's best to contact the Allwetterzoo Münster directly or check their official website.
The alpacas' home-and-garden, previously housing giraffes, has been redesigned to suit the needs of the new residents, aligning with the zoo's lifestyle commitment to providing diverse animal species. As part of the zoo's celebratory 150th anniversary, a variety of engaging experiences have been designed, including a treasure hunt for visitors to enjoy.
