Prominent figures like Mayor Reiner Breuer, Karin Schmitt-Promny M.A., deputy chair of the Landschaftsversammlung Rheinland, Prof. Dr. Karl-Heinz Erdmann from the NRW-Stiftung, and Marcus Longerich from the Sparkasse Neuss Jubiläumsstiftung will be among the first to check out the revamped Shooting Museum.
Britta Spies, museum director, invites visitors to take a journey through the evolution of shooting sports, from the Middle Ages to the present day. The exhibition features diverse units addressing topics such as the role of children and women in shooting sports, creating King's Bird Shot, orders, and torch-making. But it's not all about us, Britta says, explaining that the museum will delve into shooting traditions across other regions too, including the enigmatic 'Bretzel Gang' from the Eifel. Unfortunately, details on this particular tradition are scant.
This renovation represents a leap into the future for the Shooting Museum, according to Britta Spies. If you're curious to see if the upgrades have hit the mark, drop by the grand opening this Sunday at 14:30 in the inner courtyard of "Haus Rottels," or from 16th to 19th December.
From Sunday the 16th, citizens are free to explore the new exhibition, from 12:00 to 16:00 each day. The museum will be taking a winter break thereafter, closing up shop until the 12th of January 2025, when regular opening hours (Wednesdays and Sundays, 11:00 to 17:00) resume.
Remember, the 'Bretzel Gang' from the Eifel might just be waiting to tell their story within the Shooting Museum's walls! So, check it out and delve into the fascinating world of shooting sports and regional traditions.
