William and Kate, members of the British royal family, to relocate to a new residence.

The royal family, comprising Prince William, Princess Kate, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, is set to move into a new permanent residence by Christmas 2025. Their new home will be Forest Lodge, an eight-bedroom house located within Windsor Great Park.

Currently, the family resides in Adelaide Cottage, a four-bedroom home within the Windsor Castle grounds. However, the move from Adelaide Cottage represents a fresh start for the family, following some difficult times at their current residence.

Forest Lodge, a historic property, could also be described as a small castle. It offers more space for the growing family, with eight bedrooms compared to the four in Adelaide Cottage.

Prince William and Princess Kate are reportedly funding the ongoing renovations to their new residence, Forest Lodge, privately. The estimated cost of the renovations is around 16 million pounds (approximately 18.5 million euros).

The royal couple also has other homes. They own Apartment 1A at Kensington Palace, a large 20-room apartment they have owned since 2013. Although they moved out of London into Windsor for more green space and privacy in 2022, they retain this London base but primarily live at Windsor now.

William inherited the Duchy of Cornwall when he became the heir apparent from his father. The Duchy of Cornwall, a property portfolio, is a source of income for the Wales family, helping to fund the renovations. The approximate value of the Duchy of Cornwall is one billion pounds (approximately 1.16 billion euros).

In summary, the royal family's main residences are as follows:

| Residence | Location | Description | Status/Notes | |----------------------|-----------------------|-------------------------------------------------|---------------------------------------------------------| | Forest Lodge | Windsor Great Park | Eight-bedroom house, historic property | New permanent “forever” home from Christmas 2025 onward | | Adelaide Cottage | Windsor Castle grounds | Four-bedroom home | Current residence until late 2025 | | Apartment 1A | Kensington Palace, London | 20-room apartment across four floors | Official London residence, kept despite Windsor move |

The intention to continue living at Forest Lodge after William becomes King breaks with royal tradition that the monarch usually resides at Buckingham Palace. Some commentators view this move as significant for the royal family estates.

Therefore, within Windsor Castle grounds and its vicinity, Forest Lodge will be their future main home, replacing Adelaide Cottage, with Kensington Palace remaining their main London address.

The royal family's future home, Forest Lodge, doubles as a home-and-garden oasis within Windsor Great Park, offering a lifestyle upgrade for the growing family, with eight bedrooms compared to their current residence, Adelaide Cottage's four.

Forest Lodge, their new permanent residence scheduled for move-in by Christmas 2025, boasts a spacious home-and-garden setting that aligns with the family's preference for more green space and privacy.
