Wiesbaden Hosts "Superblock Sunday" for Inclusive Mobility
On August 10th, the city of Wiesbaden held a special event called "Superblock Sunday" with the theme "Mobility for All". The day began with a joint street clean-up at 10 am, followed by the "Breakfast on the Street" event. Residents were invited to bring their own coffee, pastries, and dishes to share. Tables and chairs were encouraged for a communal dining experience.
After breakfast, activities focused on barrier-free and inclusive use of public space took place. Visitors could participate in various family-friendly activities and test innovative transportation methods. There were also discussions on improving urban mobility infrastructure and information booths from local transit authorities and mobility-focused organizations.
The Superblock event continued until 6 pm, with the workshop "The Rheingau Quarter in the Digital Twin of Wiesbaden" hosted by the Smart City department from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm.
Car owners were asked to park their vehicles outside the closed area on August 10th. Hochschule RheinMain provided free replacement parking spaces for those who needed it. The Rüdesheimer Street between Eltviller and Rauenthaler Street was car-free for the duration of the event.
