The annual Cuprinol Shed of the Year competition has returned, and this year, it's introducing a new category that's sure to make garden enthusiasts sit up and take notice - the Eco Haven. This innovative addition to the competition highlights sheds designed with biodiversity and sustainability in mind, emphasising the importance of green practices within the gardening community.

The Eco Haven category is a celebration of sheds that serve a higher ecological purpose. Each shortlisted shed is a testament to the fact that a garden structure can be both beautiful and beneficial to the environment. The public can visit the competition website to view the shortlisted sheds and cast their vote for their favourite.

Marianne Shillingford, Cuprinol's Creative Director and Colour Expert, has expressed her excitement about the new Eco Haven category. She commented, "The Eco Haven category showcases thoughtful, sustainable shed designs that not only look fantastic but also contribute positively to the environment."

The Eco Haven category finalists range from vibrant entertainment spaces and cosy cabins to eco-friendly builds and functional workshops. Each shed reflects the unique vision and needs of its creator, demonstrating a wide range of ideas that promote sustainability.

The winning shed in the Eco Haven category will receive a £1,000 prize, a nature-inspired getaway experience, and £250 worth of Cuprinol products. In addition to the monetary prize, the winner will also be recognised for their contribution to promoting eco-friendly gardening practices.

Several sheds serve as retreats for hobbies, family time, or social gatherings. However, the Eco Haven category entries go beyond mere aesthetics. Many of the sheds were constructed using reclaimed materials, while others feature innovative designs that reduce environmental impact.

The Cuprinol Shed of the Year 2025 competition features several other categories, including Most Colourful Shed, Budget, Cabin/Summerhouse, Pub/Entertainment, Unexpected/Unique, Workshop/Studio, and the new Eco Haven. In total, 22 finalists were chosen from 84 entries across the UK.

Voting for the Eco Haven category is now open to the public and will close on 31 July 2025. So, if you're passionate about sustainability and have a favourite shed in the Eco Haven category, make sure to cast your vote and help decide who will take home the title of Eco Haven winner in the Cuprinol Shed of the Year 2025 competition.
