Get ready to hoist the anchor, mateys! The maritime WhizBang known as the Hamburg Port Anniversary is about to set sail, and we're expecting a swashbuckling good time for nearly a million pirates (or your average festival-goers) starting this weekend!
From Friday to Sunday evening, the waterfront will be bustling with ships from every corner of the globe! Gazing upon their majesty is just the beginning; there's a massive fireworks display and tons of delicious seafood-themed snacks to devour.
The opening ceremony starts at 11 AM sharp on the Michel. You'll want to be there, as the grand parade kicks off at 1 PM along the Elbe, drawing a motley crew of spectators. Once at the Michelwiesen, you'll find yourself smack-dab in the middle of a maritime jamboree, complete with the tugboat ballet harmonized by the sweet melodies of this year's partner region, Burgenland.
The party doesn't stop there on Friday! Get ready to sink your peg leg into the festivities with cultural and musical delights like singer Nina Chuba, Lotto King Karl, and Broadway-esque scenes from "MJ – Das Michael Jackson Musical." Plus, in true pirate fashion, the evening will be topped off with a free-for-all pirate sing-along!
As we sail into Saturday, "Hafen pur!" offers up the talented Johannes Oerding performing at the harbor's bash. The night will cap off with a grand fireworks display.
Just like last year, a dance floor will float upon the Elbe, bordered by harbor lights, providing the perfect backdrop for your booty-shaking moves.
