In a decade, Rebekah Wilson embarked on a tramping adventure once more, this time to Jans Hut in the Orongorongo Valley, Remutaka Forest Park. Accompanied by her colleagues Ros and Marli, the tramp was considered an easy one, a testament to Rebekah's enduring love for the outdoors.

The idea for the app "Plan My Walk" came from the New Zealand Mountain Safety Council, an organisation dedicated to ensuring safe trips into the country's outdoors. Rebekah made use of this app, customising a gear list for her tramp that included essential items such as an inhaler and antihistamines.

As a Gold Duke of Edinburgh recipient during her high school years, Rebekah had a rich history of tramping. However, the multi-day tramps from those days are now a blur. To ensure a smooth journey, the group started planning their tramp early, booking Jans Hut months in advance and checking weather and track conditions a week before the trip.

The entrance to the Orongorongo Track was not mentioned, but the group was well-prepared for the challenges that lay ahead. They were particularly mindful of the Orongorongo River's notoriety for flooding, ensuring to check the river level before setting off.

Rebekah, a communications advisor, had recently purchased new tramping boots for this occasion. With a group of experienced and fitness-matched companions, they set off on their overnight tramp, using the Plan My Walk app to organise their trip. It is recommended to go with people who have a similar level of experience and fitness for a tramp, a piece of advice that Rebekah and her colleagues followed diligently.

It is important to plan a tramp early to avoid disappointment if things book out. With careful planning and the right companions, Rebekah Wilson's return to tramping was a successful one, a journey that marked a new chapter in her love for the great outdoors.
