Oberhausen, Germany: Historic Baumeister Mill to Open Doors on June 9

In Oberhausen, the essence of craftsmanship remains alive and well, especially at the 1848-built Baumeister Mill in Oberhausen-Buschhausen. This architectural beacon now serves as one of the city's cultural landmarks, and on June 9, it will offer visitors a unique opportunity to explore its historical workings during the German Mill Day.

A total of 600 historic mills across Germany will participate in this annual celebration, with the Baumeister Mill in Oberhausen being no exception. Mill owner Hermann Baumeister and miller Axel Gindera will share insight into the intricate process of grinding grain kernels into flour using heavy millstones propelled by the wind. Both the mill and the street, formerly known as Mill Street, will be adorned with flags for this special occasion.

The event commences at 11:00 am and concludes at 6:00 pm. More information about the German Mill Day can be found on the organizer's website: www.muehlenverband-rheinland.de.

Visitors interested in witnessing this traditional craft and preserving its legacy are encouraged to mark their calendars and join the festivities in Oberhausen this Pentecost Monday.
