Amanpuri Retail Pavilion Opens at the First Aman Property in Phuket
Shopping Center at Amanpuri Estate
In a spectacular addition to the renowned Amanpuri resort on Phuket's Andaman coastline, the Amanpuri Retail Pavilion has recently opened its doors. Designed by the esteemed Japanese architect, Kengo Kuma, this unique boutique offers an impeccably curated selection of items, exclusive to Aman, through unique collaborations with artists and designers.
Kengo Kuma, known for his architecture of relations that respects surroundings instead of dominating them, has created a masterpiece with the Retail Pavilion's design. The boutique's steeply pitched roof, reminiscent of Ayutthaya, the ancient Thai capital, seamlessly blends with the lush tropical landscape.
The boutique floor is subtly divided into different retail spaces around a central lounge area, where guests can relax on limited-edition furniture pieces designed by Kengo Kuma. The central 'Living Area' of the Retail Pavilion features striking vessels designed by Kengo Kuma, including the limited edition Kigumi Table, with only 10 available. Each Kigumi Table is crafted in Germany, engraved with its edition number and Kengo Kuma's signature.
Locally curated products at the Retail Pavilion are the finest examples of their kind. Guests can find designer swimwear, resort and activewear, accessories, contemporary and fine jewellery, Aman skincare products, handicraft items, homeware, and limited-edition furniture. Lotus Arts de Vivre's jewellery inspired by Asian mythology and Alexander Lamont's sculptured homeware are just a few examples of the exquisite items on offer.
Aman has a history of creating and commissioning one-of-a-kind pieces for its resorts, and the Retail Pavilion continues this tradition. The company is also developing its own line of clothing and accessories. In addition, the new boutique welcomes Amanpuri guests, including day visitors who come to dine or visit the resort's Historic Wellness Centre.
Aman's Chairman and CEO, Vladislav Doronin, expressed delight in working with Kengo Kuma again and having his iconic style at Amanpuri. Kengo Kuma believes that Amanpuri carries both storied tradition and deep-rooted excellence, and his design for the Retail Pavilion is meant to be both familiar and new.
Each Aman property is unique in terms of setting, architecture, decor, and furnishings, with design motifs influenced by its destination. The Retail Pavilion at Amanpuri is no exception, offering a unique shopping experience that reflects the resort's Thai heritage.
In addition to the retail spaces, the Retail Pavilion houses an Art Gallery showcasing contemporary Thai art and antique artworks, objects, and artefacts. This cultural hub adds another layer of authenticity to the Amanpuri experience.
The Retail Pavilion is open daily from 8am to 9pm in high season (November to April) and 10am to 7pm during the summer months. Whether you're a guest at Amanpuri or a day visitor, a trip to the Retail Pavilion promises a unique and memorable shopping experience.
