Ryder's Artwork Showcases Interior and Exterior Paintings

Check out the brilliant British artist, Susan Ryder, that's sure to tickle your artistic fancy. She's known for her rad internals, splashed with vibrant hues and swaggering brush strokes.

Growing up with an amateur painter dad, he encouraged her to shake a brush and embrace the art life from a young age. Contrary to the tales of famous artists who battled their folks to pursue their craft, Ryder has shown that it can work out a charm!

Her moniker seems to rise on the shoulders of portraits. She's done commissions for some high-profile peeps, like Princess Di and ol' Queen Lizzie II. Yeah, those gigs probably added to her bank balance and brought her in the limelight, but I fave her internals and landscapes more. Can't say I'm a fan of staged portraits, I reckon.

Here are a few of my faves, with a bit o' insight:

Scottish Warmth: Damn, appropriate name for that one. Check out how squished and tight the composition is. That's the power of playing into the subject. Ryder arranged the painting to seem snug, cosy, and closie. If she spread it out according to the usual comp rules, it wouldn't be as effective, y'ask me?

Poppies Near Albi: Bloody 'ell, this one's got some contrast goin' on! Check out the small splashes of red against the ocean of green. There's a rhythm to her strokes too, like a song for the eyes.

Conservatory With Blue Glass: Looks like it'd be a pain in the arse to paint. Ryder's academic skills came in handy, especially in the drawing department.

Not much is known about Ryder's landscapes, but they've got a laid-back charm to 'em.

A Welsh Stream highlights similar complexity and style in her internals. It's interesting how she used similar brushwork for the water as the surroundings. If I were painting this, I'd match the brushwork to the nature of the water – flat planes for still water, suggestive strokes for the flowing bits. Ryder blurs the water into the surroundings, which I might tackle next time I face a similar scene.

Ending with three more internals: Early Evening, Peyton Hall, The Dressing Table, and The Lunch Table. Two things stick out about these paintings: strong color themes and the beauty in everyday subjects. Inspiration is everywhere, mate, we just gotta find it!

Thanks for readin'! If ya want more, don't forget to check out the Composition Breakdown.

Keep at it, get inspired, a'right!

Cheers,

Incorporating elements of landscape painting and interior-design, the British artist Susan Ryder's works often depict a tranquil lifestyle that transcends from her home-and-garden scenes, such as the "Conservatory With Blue Glass" or the "Welsh Stream." Her ability to seamlessly blend everyday subjects with strong color themes adds a sense of beauty and inspiration to her paintings, making them a perfect fit for home decor.
