The Russia-Vietnam Cultural Centre Opens in Saint-Petersburg

The Russia-Vietnam Cultural Centre was inaugurated at Herzen University in Saint-Petersburg on July 28, marking a significant new platform for cultural and educational collaboration between Vietnam and Russia.

The centre, a symbol of the strong, multifaceted relationship strengthened over 75 years of diplomatic ties, aims to help students, lecturers, and enthusiasts deepen their knowledge of Vietnamese language, arts, people, and cultural heritage within the environment of Herzen University.

Ngô Phương Ly, the wife of Party General Secretary Tô Lâm, emphasised the importance of the longstanding bilateral collaboration in culture and education during the event. She presented a book titled "President Hồ Chí MInh with Việt Nam-Russia friendship" at the event.

Andrei Korneev, State Secretary and Deputy Minister of Education of Russia, described the opening of the Russia-Vietnam Cultural Centre as a milestone event.

The centre's activities focus on developing joint educational projects, conducting scientific research, and conferences, as well as organizing cultural events to promote awareness and understanding of Vietnam and Russia.

In addition to the cultural centre, Russia has shown commitment to further educational collaboration via plans to increase the number of scholarships for Vietnamese students, support Vietnamese language classes in Russian schools hosting significant Vietnamese communities, expand Russian language education in Vietnam, and pursue a Russian-Vietnamese high school project in Hanoi.

These initiatives reflect a broad and deepening cooperation strategy encompassing cultural promotion, bilingual education, academic exchange, and talent development between Vietnam and Russia. The Russia-Vietnam Cultural Centre at Herzen University is a centrepiece in these efforts, highlighting the intersections of two rich cultures in a respected academic setting.

The Cultural Centre continues a series of vibrant cultural activities following the visit to Russia by Party General Secretary Tô Lâm in May. It is expected that the Cultural Centre will become an important platform for strengthening bilateral humanitarian and academic cooperation.
