Taravillo began his literary journey at the University of Seville, where he studied English Philology. His passion for literature led him to work at The English Bookshop in Nervión from 1989 to 2000, before he became the first director of the Casa del Libro in Seville. The founder of the Planeta publishing house, José Manuel Lara, praised Taravillo's bookshop.

From 2006 to 2007, Taravillo directed the magazine 'Mercurio' of the José Manuel Lara Foundation. He later took over the helm of 'Estación Poesía' magazine from 2014. His tenure as the director of these magazines was marked by a commitment to promoting and nurturing new talent in the literary world.

Taravillo was also a prolific author in various literary disciplines. He was a columnist for El Mundo and contributed to El Correo de Andalucía and Diario de Sevilla. From 2008 to 2020, he maintained the blog 'Fuego con nieve', where he shared his thoughts on literature and poetry. From 2017 to 2023, he served as the literary advisor of the Feria del Libro de Sevilla and its programming coordinator from 2021 to 2023.

One of Taravillo's last literary commitments was to deliver the opening speech for the 48th Seville Antique and Second-hand Book Fair, which begins on September 26th. The information about who will replace him as the head of Casa del Libro from 2006 to 2007 is not publicly documented.

Taravillo was also a member of the Poetry Workshop of the Faculty and the María Zambrano Poetry and Thought Workshop of the Hispalense. He was a member of the book review blog Estado Crítico from 2012 to 2018. From 2008 to 2019, he taught poetry and literary translation workshops.
