Relaxing amidst greenery and preserving the environment

The Urdenbacher Kämpe, a vital retreat for plants and wild animals, including many endangered species, has seen an increase in visitors due to the redesign of the Old Rhine and improved hiking trails. While enjoying the beauty of this protected area, it's essential to be mindful of the rules and regulations to ensure a harmonious coexistence with nature.

Using Designated Paths Only

To avoid disturbing flora and fauna, it's mandatory to stay on the paths in Nature Protection Areas like Urdenbacher Kämpe. Agricultural areas, such as fields and meadows, should not be entered or used for playing.

Protecting Animals

Approaching or feeding wildlife is prohibited to protect both the animals and visitors. Litter left behind in protected areas attracts more litter, so any waste generated during a visit should be taken back.

Prohibitions on Swimming

Swimming in the lakes in Düsseldorf, including the Elbsee, is prohibited to preserve water quality and protect habitats. Alternatives to enjoy the cool water are the nearby public beach baths at the Unterbacher See.

Restrictions on Picnics

Picnics may be allowed only in designated areas and require waste disposal. Open fires and grilling are not allowed in Landscape and Nature Protection Areas as well as forests.

Leashing Pets

Dogs must always be under supervision and 'recallable' outside the Nature Protection Areas, especially during the breeding and nesting season of animals (approximately from March to July). Dogs may only be taken into Nature Protection Areas on a leash.

Awareness of Behavioral Rules

Many citizens are unaware of the behavioral rules in Nature Protection Areas. To address this, the Hunting Association of Urdenbach and the General Citizens' Association Urdenbach e.V. have donated 25 additional signs to convey the rules in the Urdenbacher Kämpe.

Enforcement of Rules

Recent incidents have shown that there have been frequent complaints about inappropriate behavior by recreation seekers in the Nature Protection Area of Urdenbacher Kämpe. In one instance, around 100 people were found without authorization in the Elbsee Nature Protection Area, and administrative offense proceedings were initiated. A larger deployment of the Ordnungs- and Service Department was triggered due to massive violations in the Nature Protection Area of Elbsee at the end of June.

Depending on the offense, warning fines of up to 55 euros or fines of at least 75 euros may be imposed. For precise and legally binding regulations specific to the Urdenbacher Kämpe, it is essential to consult official local environmental or nature conservation authorities or official signage at the site.

Following the Lifestyle Guidelines for the Urdenbacher KämpeIf you're visiting the Urdenbacher Kämpe, remember to follow the designated paths to minimize disturbance to its diverse flora and fauna.

Promoting Environmental Science and Home-and-Garden CareAvoid entering agricultural areas like fields and meadows, and refrain from approaching or feeding wildlife to contribute to protecting endangered species and preserving the natural habitat.
