Red tint added to Volkswagen Taigun and Virtus models for GT Plus Sport and GT Line editions, introducing a vibrant Flash Red color option.
Get ready for an exciting update to the Volkswagen Taigun! The much-anticipated facelift of this popular SUV is expected to launch in early 2026 in the Indian market.
The facelifted Taigun will sport a fresh look, with refreshed exterior design elements primarily focused on the front and rear. Expect to see a reworked grille, sharper LED headlamps, redesigned front and rear bumpers, and new LED tail lamp detailing. These updates aim to align the Taigun's styling with Volkswagen's latest global design language, as seen on the Tiguan facelift. The side profile will largely remain unchanged, although there will likely be new alloy wheel designs and new color options.
Stepping inside, the facelift model is anticipated to receive updated trim pieces, new upholstery, and new color themes. The interior will also feature a significantly enhanced feature list, including the addition of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and a 360-degree camera, along with other tech upgrades. There are no mechanical or engine changes expected in the facelift; it will retain the same 1.0 TSI and 1.5 TSI petrol engines, with a possible introduction of an 8-speed automatic transmission for the 1.0 TSI variant post-launch.
The facelifted Taigun is expected to continue to offer manual and automatic transmission options. A 7-speed DSG unit is available for the 1.5 EVO engine, providing a smooth and efficient driving experience.
The Taigun and its sister model, the Virtus, will both benefit from these updates. The Taigun and Virtus GT Plus Sport are powered by a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine producing 148 bhp and 250 Nm. The GT Line trim options of the Taigun and Virtus are powered by a 1.0-litre TSI engine with 113 bhp and 178 Nm.
The facelifted Taigun has been spotted being tested on Indian roads, and it's clear that the rear of the vehicle gives the impression of revised tail lamps, potentially with joined LED elements. The headlamps might get updated slightly, with potential new LED components. However, no new information about the facelifted Taigun regarding alloy wheels or other exterior details has been revealed yet.
The new paint option for the Taigun is a brighter metallic shade of red, complemented by a contrasting black roof and b-pillar. The facelifted Taigun is expected to have a new grille and bumper design, making it slightly more aggressive.
The Taigun and Virtus are India-made vehicles, with no additional changes made to them. Both engines for these models are paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard, and an automatic transmission is available for the 1.0 TSI engine (6-speed torque converter).
