Rainbow City's Honor Shines Radiantly Under the Guidance of Mayor Savona
Thousands of Savonese marched through the city streets today in celebration of the Savona Pride 2025 parade. Estimates put the crowd at around three thousand people, of all ages, who gathered to advocate for LGBTQIA+ rights and visibility. The city center was awash with rainbow colors as the procession made its way through the streets.
Numerous members of the municipal administration, led by Mayor Marco Russo, joined the festivities, underscoring the community's support for the event. Savona Pride 2025, with its slogan "We Are Indelible!", seeks to emphasize the indelible nature of the LGBTQIA+ community within society.
The event comes in the face of ongoing challenges and efforts to deny rights, particularly those of trans people. Organizers emphasized the need for self-determination and full visibility, underscoring the resilience and importance of the LGBTQIA+ community. The procession ended at Piazzale Eroe dei due Mondi at around 6 pm, marking a moment of celebration and assertion.
Following the parade, musical performances took place until 8:30 pm, with the Savona Pride Show, curated by the Ligurian Queer family, following afterwards. The show featured an aerial dance performance by Linea d'Aria, as well as the world premiere of a new performance. The evening concluded with a DJ set.
Savona Pride 2025 is part of a broader movement across Italy, focused on promoting LGBTQIA+ rights and visibility. The event celebrates diversity and inclusivity, following the tradition of Pride events worldwide, which honor the historical struggle for LGBTQIA+ rights. The key activities of the event included laboratories, talks, music, and pre-Pride activities such as the Queer Night.
The goal of Savona Pride 2025 was to foster a sense of community and solidarity among LGBTQIA+ individuals and allies, while advocating for greater visibility and rights.
Participants in the Savona Pride 2025 parade, including members of the municipal administration, showcased the city's commitment to a diverse and inclusive 'lifestyle', promoting 'sustainable-living' principles that embrace all individuals regardless of their sexual orientation. The event, filled with musical performances, aerial dance shows, and talks, served as a platform to advocate for 'home-and-garden' values that celebrate and uphold the rights of the LGBTQIA+ community.
