Get ready, folks! The Maritime Volksfest Hamburg Port Anniversary is about to set sail from May 9 to May 11, 2025, and it's promising an unforgettable nautical extravaganza!
Taking place along the iconic banks of the Elbe, this three-day shindig is expected to draw over a million visitors who will bear witness to a dazzling array of ships from around the world, otherworldly fireworks, and tantalizing culinary delights until the wee hours of Sunday night.
The fun begins with a blessing (11:00 AM) at St. Michaelis Church, followed by the grand motorcade (1:00 PM) that's sure to captivate spectators lining the Elbe. Once you've had your fill of ships, saunter over to the Michel Wiesen for a family-friendly maritime carnival. This year, the tugboat spectacular will be accompanied by melodies from Burgenland, our partner region.
Friday will be a veritable buffet of entertainment. Singer Nina Chuba and popular musician Lotto King Karl join forces to bring back the love for "Hamburg, My Pearl." Catch snippets from "MJ – Das Michael Jackson Musical," as the Broadway atmosphere permeates the air.
Just like last year, a floating concert stage will be erected on the Elbe, juxtaposed against the pulsating harbor lights. On Saturday, Johannes Oerding will belt out two songs in homage to the harbor's birthday bash before the evening climaxes with a jaw-dropping pyrotechnic display.
The Maritime Volksfest isn't just about ships; it's a celebration of our rich maritime heritage, showcasing a breathtaking mix of majestic liners, stunning tall ships, cherished traditional vessels, powerful tugboats, historic lightships, former cargo ships, and naval forces.
