It seems like those price hikes are all about seasonal vegetable trends, buddy!

Let me spill the beans on what's been happening with veggie prices in Omsk. SuperOmsk noticed that vegetable prices, particularly potatoes, have been on a steep rise in the Omsk region. Just in the last week, from April 21 to 28, 2025, the average price for a kilogram of potatoes shot up by a staggering 4.58%. Currently, a potato kilo will cost you around 65.65 rubles, which is more than 22 rubles pricier compared to its starting price for the year! That's a whopping 50% increase in price!

Oh boy, and don't even get me started on those pricey carrots! Over the course of a week, carrots became 7.3% costlier, and just a week before that, their price saw an additional 12% increase! Now a carrot kilo will set you back 40.6 rubles – for a 51% hike since the year's beginning!

Now, here's something fresh for you! Cabbage, too, isn't immune to these price rises. Over the past week, its prices have gone up by a whopping 9%, making a kilo cost 60.2 rubles. That's 41% pricier than what you'd pay at the start of the year!

However, tomatoes and cucumbers, surprisingly, have seen their prices plummet, according to the statistics folks. Over the past week, cucumbers have dropped by 11.8% and 26.7% since the beginning of the year. At the end of the month, a cucumber kilo will cost you around 181.67 rubles!

As for tomatoes, they've seen a nearly 9% drop in price recently, but they're still 22 rubles dearer than their initial price for the year – going for an average of 258 rubles per kilogram!

[1]: According to a new development in April 2025, a Uzbek-Russian fruit and vegetable logistics hub called "Frutsiti" has opened in the Omsk region. This large wholesale distribution center focuses on storage and sale of fruits and vegetables, aiming to stabilize supplies across Siberia, including Omsk. Such infrastructure development could help moderate seasonal price spikes by improving supply chain efficiency and availability of imported produce from Uzbekistan[1].

[2]: A nationwide perspective from early 2025 shows an increase in vegetable production costs, nearly doubling to 4.6 billion rubles in 2023 due to expanded federal support programs (incl. potato growing). At the end of 2023, potato production was at a 30-year peak, showing an 18% increase year-on-year. The main production regions for open-field vegetables (which include carrots and cabbage) are southern and central Russian regions like Astrakhan, Moscow, and Krasnodar, but the Omsk region is not specifically highlighted among them. This suggests some regional variability in production levels that can influence local prices[2].

[3]: No specific price data for carrots, potatoes, and cabbage in Omsk or any seasonal price fluctuations in April 2025 were noted in the monitored agricultural product price reporting or general fresh produce news sources[3][5].

In summary, while the logistics improvements may mitigate sharp seasonal price rises in the Omsk region, detailed figures for April 2025 on the popular vegetables mentioned are not currently accessible.
