Nordhorn Unveils New BMX Park 'Bikepark Nordhorn'

The city of Nordhorn has unveiled the 'Bikepark Nordhorn', a new facility for BMX enthusiasts, following a successful grant application to the European Union. The park, located in the Gewerbe- und Industriepark GIP, has been eagerly awaited by local youth and was officially opened today.

The Bikepark Nordhorn, situated next to the 'Rodelberg', offers three distinct zones - 'Pumptrack', 'Table Line', and 'Dirt Line' - catering to different skill levels. Users must be at least eight years old and wear protective gear for safety. The facility is freely accessible, with rules in place to ensure safety and prevent damage.

The park's construction was driven by a group of young BMX riders from various Nordhorn neighborhoods. Mayor Thomas Berling praised their initiative and collaboration, highlighting the importance of youth ideas in the project's implementation. The total construction cost amounted to around 160,000 euros, with the European Union contributing approximately 60,000 euros. The remaining funds were raised through local efforts. A public sports event is planned to officially inaugurate the facility once all pending work is completed.

The Bikepark Nordhorn, a testament to youth initiative and community collaboration, is now open for public use. The facility, equipped with three diverse zones, caters to BMX enthusiasts of all skill levels. With safety measures in place and free access, it promises to be a popular attraction for local youth and visitors alike.
