Newly announced: Opening date for Downtown Seattle's PCC Community Markets store revealed
PCC Corner Market Reopens in Downtown Seattle
After a challenging 2023, PCC Community Markets, a Pacific Northwest-based grocery co-op founded in Seattle in 1953, has announced a successful return with the reopening of its downtown location on July 15, 2023. The new store, named PCC Corner Market, boasts a smaller footprint and a focus on grab-and-go foods, catering to downtown workers and residents.
Located in Rainier Square on 4th Avenue and Union, the PCC Corner Market offers a convenient shopping experience for those in the bustling city centre. The store's emphasis is on grab-and-go prepared foods, providing quick meal options for the fast-paced downtown clientele.
Eli Dorr-Fay, a longtime PCC employee, has been named store manager of the PCC Corner Market. The store also features artwork from Andrea M. Wilbur-Sigo of the Squaxin Island Tribe, reflecting the communities the store serves.
The reopening event was well-attended, indicating strong local interest and support for the updated store concept. The market offers deli products, a hot bar, salad bar, fresh sushi, an assortment of beer and wine, everyday grocery staples, and essentials. Customers can pick up items for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and various snacks at the PCC Corner Market.
The reopening marks a significant milestone for PCC Community Markets. Net sales for the co-op rose 3.1% during the latest fiscal year, reaching $449.9 million. The co-op was also named one of Progressive Grocer's Outstanding Independents for 2025. Additionally, the co-op is currently in the process of a rebrand.
Krish Srinivasan, CEO of PCC Community Markets, expressed his excitement about the reopening and the opportunity to reconnect with the community. "We are thrilled to reopen our doors and serve the downtown community once again," he said. "We are committed to providing high-quality, convenient, and community-focused grocery options."
The PCC Corner Market will be open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. The grand opening next month will include live music, free samples, and giveaways to the first 50 shoppers. For more information, visit www.pccmarkets.com.
