Multitudes are gathering to shatter a global record; here's your chance to be part of history-making event

The Girls' Friendly Society (GFS), a UK charity dedicated to boosting the self-esteem of girls and women, is celebrating its 150th anniversary in a unique way. They are aiming to break the world record for the longest friendship bracelet, and they need your help!

By ordering a free bracelet pack from the GFS website, you can participate in this exciting project. The pack includes everything you need to get started – thread, instructions, and a return envelope. If you already have materials or prefer to supply your own, you can select the self-source option when ordering.

After braiding your segment – whether you choose to do it alone, with friends, or in a group – you send it back to GFS, who will stitch all segments into one enormous bracelet. This mindful activity not only helps create a unique piece but also sends a powerful message to every girl: you belong.

The guide provided with the pack covers everything you need to know about making friendship bracelets, and a YouTube tutorial is available on the GFS website for learning how to make three different styles of friendship bracelets. For those seeking inspiration, the GFS also offers a guide for friendship bracelet ideas on its website.

The current world record for the longest friendship bracelet stands at 2,800 feet long. The GFS is seeking public support to achieve this goal. Participation is free, but donations to help cover materials and postage are welcome.

Key participation details:

  • Order your free bracelet pack by October 14, 2025.
  • Return your finished braid by October 31, 2025.
  • This project celebrates GFS's 150th anniversary and is a community effort involving thousands across the UK.

Join this campaign and be a part of a symbol of unity and connection of thousands of people across the country. Together, we can break the world record and create a lasting symbol of friendship and community spirit.
