Hop Aboard the Munich Mountain Bus: Kickstarting the 2025 Season with a Ride to the Alps!

Munich Mountain Bus Introduces New Features Starting on Pentecost - Mountain bus services in Munich commence their operation during Pentecost, incorporating a host of innovations.

Get ready for some mountainside adventures, Munich peeps! This Pentecost, the city's iconic Mountain Bus is making a comeback, giving hikers and day-trippers a chance to explore the majestic Alps. With the new schedule, you'll be able to hop on the bus even on public holidays, not just weekends. So, throw on your hiking boots and get ready to traverse some breathtaking terrains!

But that's not all, folks! If you're a resident of the state capital, you can hit the mountain trails completely cost-free using the Germany Ticket! Without it, the ride will cost you typically according to the MVV pricing.

As the Mountain Bus embarks on a fresh season, it strides forward with an optimized timetable, extending from the Pentecost holidays all the way to the All Saints' weekend in early November. Plus, the enhanced passenger info will make your journey smoother than ever!

So, where can the Mountain Bus take you? Popular destinations include Pfronten in Ostallgau, Bayrischzell, and Thiersee in Tyrol. Each line offers two daily round trips, making sure you aren't left waiting too long for your alpine adventure!

If you'd like to secure a seat in advance, hop on the MVV app and use their booking tool—it's free of charge! Now, aren't we lucky?

The Mountain Bus has been under the MVV's wing since last year, following a pilot project launched by the German Alpine Association in 2021. Funding comes from the city of Munich, the districts of Miesbach and Ostallgau, and the Free State, covering the operating costs that ticket sales don't manage to cover.

Last season, more than 7,000 day-trippers hopped aboard the Mountain Bus for a glimpse of the Tegelberg cable car near Neuschwanstein Castle and the Austrian border-dwelling Gasthof Baeckeralm.

Now, where's that storage for stowing all your exciting gear? Time to pack up and venture into the Alps!
