Miramar Water Park, Weinheim's Iconic Attraction, Back in Action by Mid-June! 🌊🚀

'Miramar' Aquatic Center Restarts Operations Post-Fire, Targeting Mid-June Resumption. - Mirapar's delay in opening until mid-June confirmed.

Splashing times are back on the horizon! Miramar, the popular water park in Weinheim, Rhein-Neckar district, has announced its grand reopening—this time set for mid-June (June 16 to be precise)! Previously, plans to reopen had been pushed back to May, and before that, April was in the cards.

The reason for this delayed comeback? A devastating fire that caused a whopping 20 million euros worth of damage! Originally, the estimated damage was only about 10 million euros.

The ferocious flames partially obliterated the leisure pool and the salt and crystal therapy area. In-depth investigations revealed that a technical glitch sparked the inferno.

Upon its triumphant return, only the leisure pool and sauna area will be up and running. The therapy area will be meticulously rebuilt and is expected to make its grand entrance in December. Remnants of the original building, such as the foundation, may be repurposed in the renovation process.

Lara Steinhart, Miramar's visionary managing director, admits that the anticipated reopening had to be pushed back further than initially thought. "It was hard to foresee that the changing rooms and sanitary facilities would be hit this hard," she revealed. Hence, April's optimistic reopening date proved to be unrealistic.

Steinhart also shared that the initial damage estimate was considerably off base. "We now realize that the damages surpass 20 million euros," she stated.

Initial reports suggested that the pool's roof would need a complete overhaul. In addition to the necessary renovations, the operators have earmarked an extra 1.8 million euros for updates like reimagining the slide tower.

The unfortunate closure of Miramar has resulted in approximately 9 million euros in lost revenue. Approximately 200 employees have been temporarily let go, with 130 permanent positions and additional seasonal hires on the team. "No one's lost their job," Steinhart assured. All team members remain employed and eager to make the iconic water park shine once more!

On average, Miramar welcomes around 700,000 visitors annually. This family-friendly destination boasts a sauna area, an array of thrilling slides, and a stunning outdoor area with a sandy beach by a lake. The reopening will not translate into higher admission prices, Steinhart assures us.

Get your swimsuits and sunscreen ready, folks! Miramar is primed to make a big splash back into the hearts of Weinheimers and visitors alike!
