Lively Movie Evenings Along the Elbe: Attracting a multitude of spectators

The collapse of Dresden's Carola Bridge on September 11 has altered the logistics of the Film Nights on the Elbe bank, as the affected bridge section C is still at risk. Sections A and B remain standing, yet access from the Albert Bridge direction is impeded.

Matthias Pfitzner and Philip Hartmanis, the event's organizers, addressed these changes today onboard the boat "Diesbar." They outlined new access routes to the Film Nights site, highlighting the enormous challenges posed by the bridge collapse. A new fire protection and safety concept has been developed to ensure the concerts' safety, which typically attract up to 12,000 visitors.

The main access point will now be via the Augustus Bridge's west side in the future. For large concerts such as the Roland Kaiser shows, there will be two entrances on the west side. Security chief Sören Klar explained that ticket holders marked Carolabridge will utilize the lower entrance and be guided behind the stage into the eastern area. The new ticket booth will be located at the main entrance on the Augustus side. An additional entrance on the Carol side will remain open for family cinema and people with disabilities. Both entrances will serve as exits, and the escape routes have been revised.

Structural changes will affect the balconies, toilet container positions, and bike racks. The Pan GmbH, as the organizer, will bear the additional costs, which are currently estimated at around 100,000 euros. The new access road now leads directly west of the bridge ruins from Carolaplatz to the Elbe bank, with an asphalt layer added to ensure safe delivery for the Film Nights.

Following rumors of concert cancellations, Hartmann and Pfitzner reassured spectators that all cinema screenings and concerts will proceed as planned. There will be no acoustic disruptions from the construction site, as the organizers are in close contact with Hentschke Bau. The concerts will commence with Ski Aggu and Nina Chuba on June 20 and 21.

Ticket prices have been revised, with the standard price increased by €1.50, while Monday cinema day tickets are €3.50 cheaper. The family cinema tickets remain at €7.50. A total of 37 family-friendly films will be shown, including "Paddington in Peru," "The Wild Robot," and the Oscar-winning animated film "Flow." The evening program offers 51 films, with highlights such as "The Nickname," "Cranko," and "I Want Everything. Hildegard Knef."
