Literary Abode: Jana Buch and Thea Mantwill at KIT Düsseldorf
The much-anticipated literary exhibition, "13 Mornings - A Literary Exhibition" by Jana Buch and Thea Mantwill, is now open at KIT, Mannesmannufer 1b, Düsseldorf. This unique exhibition promises to blend visual arts and literary concepts, creating an immersive experience for visitors.
The exhibition features a diverse range of artworks by the two artists, including a 30-meter-long runner printed with foam resembling a churned sea, a stage set for poetry and prose titled "13 Mornings", and a large table set with poetry printed on the plates for eleven people.
Jana Buch has also placed her poetry next to a picture with a false tree and a book of poems titled "The bushes of languages grow low and wild." One of her poems reads, "You and your writing have flowed into my world like ink on blotting paper." Another poem, "The Red of Tomatoes," is presented in a poetry booklet.
Thea Mantwill's stories include one about a deserted girl who receives a suit of invulnerability from a magician after cutting herself on grass, another about "The Club", a wellness spa where past experiences leave visible traces on the skin and disappear in the last pool. Her watercolor illustrations for the children's book "Dogs Pull Dogs" were created with digital creative software and AI assistance.
The exhibition is curated by Gertrud Peters and is inspired by the final class of John Morgan, an academy professor for design, typography, and book art. Visitors are invited to take a seat and schmooze, making this exhibition an interactive and engaging experience.
For those interested in attending, the exhibition runs until June 4th, with opening hours Tue.-Sun. 11 am to 6 pm. Additional events such as meet + talk, public tour, and guided tours with the artists are scheduled on specific days. For more information about the program, visit www.kunst-im-tunnel.de.
