Lebenshilfe Berlin Builds Sustainable, Inclusive Office Campus in Volkspark Humboldthain

Lebenshilfe Berlin, a non-profit organisation supporting disabled individuals since 1960, is constructing a new office building in Volkspark Humboldthain, Berlin-Gesundbrunnen. The association is transforming Boettgerstraße 19 into the 'Infinite Campus Lebenshilfe', a sustainable and inclusive complex.

The new office building is part of Lebenshilfe Berlin's vision to create a welcoming and accessible space for its community. The 'Infinite Campus Lebenshilfe' will feature an inclusive meeting place on the ground floor, encouraging interaction and socialisation.

The historic Schmalzfabrik on the site is also being renovated, preserving the area's heritage. Additionally, a residential building with inclusive housing options will be part of the complex, promoting independent living for disabled individuals.

The project's sustainability is evident in its energy supply. An innovative ice storage system will provide heating and cooling, with a heat pump extracting heat from the ice storage system installed in the excavation pit. Furthermore, the decision not to build an underground garage reduces the project's CO2 footprint.

The new office building and 'Infinite Campus Lebenshilfe' in Berlin-Gesundbrunnen reflect Lebenshilfe Berlin's commitment to supporting disabled people and promoting inclusivity. The project's sustainable approach, including the greening of the facade with plants and the use of an ice storage system, ensures a low CO2 footprint. The complex is set to become a model for inclusive and sustainable urban development.
