Kamchatka Kids Learn to Love Nature at 'This Land is Ours' Event
A day dedicated to environmental awareness, 'This Land is Ours,' took place at the Vitaly Krichina Children's Library in Kamchatka. The event, a collaboration with Kronotsky Biosphere Reserve, aimed to educate young minds about the region's natural diversity and the importance of conservation.
Fifth-graders from School No. 35 in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky were the main participants. They learned about the history and significance of Kronotsky Biosphere Reserve, which celebrated its 90th anniversary recently. The children watched captivating videos showcasing Kamchatka's protected areas, such as the Valley of Geysers and Kuril Lake, and a unique report by a bear cub from the series 'I am a Bear'.
The event was filled with interactive environmental games like 'Animal Sounds' and 'Marine Mammals', making learning fun and engaging. Anna Kostrova, methodologist of the Department of Environmental Education and Public Relations at FGBI 'Kronotsky Biosphere Reserve', has been instrumental in organizing such events since joining the department in 2020.

Through interactive learning and engaging activities, the event highlighted the importance of preserving Kamchatka's unique biodiversity.
