The district office is inviting volunteers to join their local volunteering programme, starting in January 2026. The course, offered by the district office, is free and open to anyone with second language skills, particularly those who speak French, Somali, Romanian, or Italian. Registrations are now open until November 21, 2025.

The training consists of five in-person sessions totalling around 18 hours. Daniela D'Cruz (integration officer) and Robert Walz (integration assistant) are available to assist with registrations. More details about the project can be found on the district website at www.our website/sprachvermittlung.

Language mediators play a crucial role in supporting individuals with limited language skills. They help facilitate conversations with authorities or advisory services. The programme, launched in 2016, currently involves about 250 volunteers speaking 31 different languages. Upon completing the course, volunteers will receive a certificate and can begin deployments in March. A reasonable compensation will be provided for each deployment.

The local volunteering programme is an excellent opportunity for volunteers to make a difference in their community. With a current need for French, Somali, Romanian, and Italian speakers, the programme welcomes volunteers with any second language skills. For further information, contact Daniela D'Cruz or Robert Walz before the registration deadline of November 21, 2025.
