A New Era for the "Waldschießhaus" in Erlangen

A Fresh Start for a Historic Venue

"Is our actions justified?"

The "Waldschießhaus" in Erlangen, a beloved establishment known for its historical significance and picturesque location, is set to undergo a transformation. After a brief closure since April 2025, the venue has found a new lessee, the Schafer family, who are eager to breathe new life into this iconic inn.

The Schafer Family's Vision

The Schafer family, with roots in the culinary world, is excited to take on the challenge of operating the "Waldschießhaus" in Erlangen from September 2025, subject to approval from the authorities. Annett Schafer, the new lessee, currently runs a wine tavern in Billensbach, Kreis Heilbronn, and is looking forward to collaborating with the HSG for the operation of the inn. Her husband, Oliver Schafer, a skilled chef, will be at the helm of the kitchen, promising a delightful gastronomic experience.

A Warm Welcome and a New Menu

The Schafer couple hopes to be warmly welcomed by the Erlangen community and for their inn to be well-received. To achieve this, they plan to offer a menu that combines traditional Franconian, Bavarian, and Swabian dishes with modern twists, ensuring a culinary journey that caters to a diverse palate. Dishes on the menu may include Schäuferla, Sauerbraten, roast beef, Maultaschen, schnitzel variations, cheese spaetzle, zucchini pancakes, or fresh cheese pockets.

A Weekly Schedule and Community Engagement

The "Waldschießhaus" will be open from Thursday to Monday, with Tuesday and Wednesday being rest days. The Schafer couple is also planning to engage with the local community by offering a senior coffee and cake afternoon and activities for the youth.

A New Home in Erlangen

To ensure a smooth transition, the Schafer family will be moving to Erlangen and will reside in an apartment directly above the "Waldschießhaus" inn. This move will allow them to be readily available to manage the inn and provide a personal touch to the guest experience.

A Venue for All Occasions

The "Waldschießhaus" in Erlangen will boast a seating capacity of 60 seats in the bar, 120 seats in the hall, and another 150 seats in the outdoor area, making it an ideal venue for a variety of gatherings, from intimate dinners to large events.

As the Schafer family prepares to embark on this exciting new venture, the "Waldschießhaus" in Erlangen is set to regain its status as a must-visit destination for locals and visitors alike.
