Ireland's Sustainable Business Impact Awards 2025: Two of Our Web Projects Receive Shortlist Nominations
The Sustainable Business Impact Awards, held by Chambers Ireland and sponsored by BAM Ireland, will celebrate its 2025 edition at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Northwood Park, Santry Demesne, Dublin, on Wednesday, 24th September 2025. This prestigious event recognises companies of all sizes in Ireland that excel in sustainable development and corporate social responsibility.
The awards ceremony reflects Chambers Ireland's continued alignment with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with this year's winners showcasing exemplary initiatives in energy efficiency, innovation, and sustainability across various sectors.
In the 'Partnership with Charity (LIC)' category, a firm was recognised for its Women's Aid Partnership with their website, while in the 'Volunteering & Pro Bono Services' category, another firm was honoured for providing critical legal support to unaccompanied refugee minors through partnership.
The Department of Rural and Community Development is associated with the Sustainable Business Impact Awards, underscoring the government's commitment to sustainable business practices.
Among the notable winners was Compass Data Centers, recognised for innovations in data center design and operations, including predictive AI for maintenance and modular construction, which reduce costs and accelerate delivery. Equinix received an award for achieving 96% global renewable energy coverage, with most of its data centers offering 100% renewable energy, contributing to 1.2 GW of new renewable energy capacity through power purchase agreements, and investing $51 million in energy efficiency improvements.
Lenovo was honoured for deploying AI-driven sustainability solutions that reduce emissions and improve resource utilization in manufacturing and logistics. The New Terminal One at JFK Airport won for integrating advanced microgrid technology and innovative energy management to create a resilient airport terminal.
Several international projects also received recognition. Complexe Desjardins in Canada achieved a 70% energy use reduction and 80% emissions cut through real-time digital monitoring enhancing efficiency and comfort. The University of Toronto Mississauga committed to carbon neutrality and climate positivity, making significant emissions reductions and adopting renewable energy and smart building technologies.
Modular Green Technologies Inc. advanced circular economy innovation by developing modular pyrolysis systems converting waste into reusable byproducts, optimized by IoT solutions. TELUS set benchmarks for sustainability in telecommunications through renewable energy adoption and infrastructure upgrades supporting resilience.
Globally, GetWorks Co., Ltd. (Japan) used renewable energy cooling and biomass to achieve 100% renewable energy rates and cut power consumption dramatically. Magnom Properties (Egypt) engineered an off-grid skyscraper powered by photovoltaics and hydrogen, sharply reducing energy consumption and emissions. Capgemini Technology Services (India) achieved 50% energy consumption reduction and transitioned to 100% renewable electricity, using EcoStruxure-powered Energy Command Centre for energy optimization.
These projects align strongly with the UN SDGs, particularly SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), and SDG 13 (Climate Action).
