The Sheridan Community Land Trust (SCLT) invites you to embark on a captivating journey through time with their Explore History program, taking place on the picturesque Soldier Ridge Trail. This free, outdoor event offers an opportunity to immerse yourself in local history while enjoying fresh air and outdoor fun.

The first date for this enlightening adventure is set for Tuesday, July 8, commencing at 10 a.m. Attendees are asked to meet at the Soldier Ridge Trailhead on the edge of Sheridan, out Fifth Street. The second date, scheduled for Tuesday, July 15, begins at 10:30 a.m.

Participants are encouraged to bring water and dress appropriately for the weather, as the trail has gentle to moderate inclines and covers approximately 2 miles. The trail offers a unique perspective on the region's history, with the tour featuring seven stories from local history that occurred on or near the trail.

The program delves into the diverse and storied past of the area, highlighting historical trails and landmarks that provide insights into the lives of early settlers and indigenous peoples. You'll learn about the Plains Indian Tribes, early European settlement, conflict along the Bozeman Trail, and development and agriculture in the Goose Valley.

Nearby areas also boast historical sites, such as ancient medicine wheels, which are significant to Native American cultures. These sites demonstrate the area's rich cultural heritage, spanning from pre-European contact to modern times.

The SCLT Explore History program is part of the community outreach efforts by the Sheridan Community Land Trust, aiming to engage locals and visitors with the area's heritage through outdoor activities.
