Higround Unveils Unconventional BLUR Basecamp 75+ Keyboard

Lifestyle computer peripheral brand Higround has entered the gaming keyboard market with a bang, introducing the BLUR Basecamp 75+. This pre-lubed, hot-swappable, and customizable keyboard is said to be the brand's most unconventional design yet, appealing to keyboard aficionados and gamers alike.

The BLUR Basecamp 75+ boasts TTC's HG Blitz keyswitches, often hailed as "the ultimate gaming switch." These switches offer a linear rail-guided travel for smooth actuation at 1.4mm and a bottom-out distance of 3.5mm, ensuring fast and responsive play. The switches are pre-lubed with a 45g actuation force, providing a light but tactile press, and are hot-swappable, enabling easy customization.

The keyboard features a wired connection via USB Type-C and sports a US layout. It is priced at $159.95, placing it in competition with other keyboards in the same price range.

The BLUR Basecamp 75+ is built on an aluminum plate and features five layers of 'Dampening Plus' materials, including poly foam, silicone, and others, for reduced noise. This makes it a thocky keyboard, offering satisfying acoustic and tactile qualities.

The design of the BLUR Basecamp 75+ bears a resemblance to something from the Half-Life 1 game, with its retro video game aesthetic. The keycaps are made from 1.5mm thick PBT with 5-sided dye-sub printing, making them durable and long-lasting.

The BLUR Basecamp 75+ is a 75% design, a first for Higround in this form factor, featuring a full complement of F-Row keys. It offers customizable RGB lighting, macro programming, and compatibility with macOS. However, supplies of the BLUR Basecamp 75+ are limited, with customers restricted to purchasing two units.

It's worth noting that Higround was set up by enthusiasts unsatisfied with the plain keyboards marketed to them. The brand has made a name for itself by creating unique and visually appealing keyboards, with prior designs featuring undulating or abstract etchings atop the keycaps. The look of the BLUR Basecamp 75+ is inspired by the graphics rendered by Sony's PS1 console.

In summary, the HG Blitz switches emphasize quick actuation and tactile feedback with a light actuation force and short actuation distance, making the BLUR Basecamp 75+ an attractive option for gamers and fast typists who value responsive performance and acoustic quality.

The unique design of the BLUR Basecamp 75+, evoking memories of the Half-Life 1 game and PS1 console graphics, places it within the Home-and-garden category of striking, decorative gadgets that transcend conventional aesthetics. This pre-lubed, hot-swappable keyboard, featured with TTC's HG Blitz keyswitches, aligns with the brand's commitment to combining cutting-edge technology with a distinctive lifestyle appeal in its products.
