In Solingen, the Fellfriends group marks a decade of existence in celebratory fashion
The Fellfreunde association, a dedicated animal welfare organisation based in Germany, has been working tirelessly for the past decade to rescue, care for, and rehome dogs – primarily pets such as cats and dogs – in both Germany and Hungary.
Founded on November 15, ten years ago, the association has grown to over 100 members and has placed over 1000 dogs since its inception. One of their longest-standing partnerships is with an animal shelter in Gyula, Hungary, a region known for being one of the poorest in the country.
The Fellfreunde association operates entirely on a voluntary basis, with the help of dedicated individuals who are passionate about animal welfare. They are particularly in need of volunteers with skills in the social media area to help raise awareness about their cause and the dogs they are seeking homes for.
In Hungary, the association has been supporting castration actions for years, working with various animal protection organisations in the southeast of the country. They do not aim to bring as many animals as possible to Germany, but rather focus on long-term improvement on site.
The placement of dogs is just one part of the work that Fellfreunde does. After adoption, they provide advice and assistance to adopters to ensure a smooth transition for both the dog and the new family. Foster homes for dogs are always sought by the association, and they assure that it's okay if foster parents know the dog will go back to its original shelter.
Financial donations are urgently needed by the Fellfreunde association, with assurance that they go directly to Hungary to support their ongoing efforts. Judith Biermann, a key figure in the association, is responsible for pre-checks, post-checks, and material donations at Fellfreunde.
Carola Horlemann, another member of the association, emphasises the need for people who are advertising and internet-savvy to support the association. The Fellfreunde association also provides material donations, consultancy, and advocates for better coexistence between humans and animals in Germany.
To celebrate their tenth anniversary, the Fellfreunde association will be hosting a special event on March 22, 2025, at the Cobra, with an illustrious program. For more detailed and specific information about the Fellfreunde association's activities in Hungary and Germany, we recommend checking their official website or contacting them directly.
Members of the Fellfreunde association are urged to lend their social media skills to help raise awareness about their pet rescues, as they strive to improve the lifestyle of homeless dogs not just by rehoming them, but also by focusing on the long-term well-being of pets in their homes-and-garden environments in both Germany and Hungary. Foster homes for these pets are always in demand by the association, even if foster parents know the pets will eventually return to their original shelters.
