Home renovation underway: Rosanna Davison delivers progress reports
Renowned model and environmental activist, Rosanna Davison, and her husband, Wesley Quirke, are currently in the midst of an exciting home renovation project. The couple, who found their forever home last year, are eager to share the transformation with their followers on Instagram (@rosanna_davison).
The renovation aims to create a brighter, safer, and more functional space for their growing family. Reflecting on the journey, Rosanna expresses gratitude for finding the perfect place to make lasting family memories.
The upper floor of the house is being reworked to maximise space and safety. The original kitchen wall has been knocked down to create an open-plan living space, while the dormer window at the far end of the upstairs space is being replaced to increase daylighting. Two glass sliding doors will be added to open out into the garden, further enhancing the feeling of spaciousness.
A new cinema room has been added in the attic, and the mezzanine floor with a balcony overlooking the kitchen has been converted into an additional bedroom. The upstairs landing has also been extended to provide more room and better flow.
Flooring preparations for underfloor heating, hardwood floor, and carpet measurements are underway. Windows, floors, and the kitchen are expected to be installed by the end of March.
To achieve an open-plan living space, several key strategies are being applied. Walls are being removed or minimised to create a sense of flow and allow for more natural light to travel through the space. A simple, coordinated colour scheme is being employed throughout the open space, unifying the separate zones visually. The same flooring is being used throughout the open area to avoid visual breaks and enhance the feeling of spaciousness.
Furniture placement, rugs, lighting, or partial dividers are being used to create functional zones. Kitchen islands or strategically positioned dining tables act as natural dividers without closing off the space. Strategic lighting schemes help differentiate areas while maintaining openness. Combinations of spotlights, pendants, floor lamps, and dimmable options allow mood changes and zone definition.
Flexible and multifunctional furniture is being incorporated to offer seating flexibility and act as room dividers. Smart furniture, such as movable screens or back-to-back sofas, separate spaces while preserving an open feel. The changes are designed to make the space feel more airy and welcoming for family life.
The renovation process is well underway, and Rosanna is excited to share the fun of designing and decorating the home with her followers. The couple's dream family home is taking shape, and it's clear that they are creating a stylish, functional, and inviting environment for their family to grow and make memories in.
