Hidden Skylight Rediscovered in Transformed 1980s Home

A hidden gem, a skylight, has been rediscovered and made the centrepiece of a transformed 1980s residence, now known as the House of the Rising Sun. Shaentelle Chapman, Principal Designer at Space Styling & Design, led the renovation, preserving the original structure while introducing light and expression.

The renovation began with rediscovering a hidden skylight. This architectural feature was restored and made the focal point of the home. A custom 20-foot mural was created beneath it, basking in the morning light and casting a warm, almost sacred glow throughout the interiors.

The outdated walls and closed-off rooms were replaced with open spaces and a muted palette. The original structure was retained, preserving its architectural bones. The transformation brought light, flow, and expression to the once-dated residence.

The House of the Rising Sun, once a 1980s residence, has been transformed into a light-filled, expressive home. The rediscovered skylight and custom mural are now its standout features. Shaentelle Chapman and Space Styling & Design have successfully preserved the original structure while updating the interiors.
