Hidden Gem Down a Graffiti- adorned Alleyway: Exploring Untitled, an Art-Laden Hotel
Peace Out at 3 Freeman Alley - a lively hideaway tucked away in the bustling heart of Manhattan's Lower East Side. To uncover its secrets, simply trek the vibrant, graffiti-emblazoned alley.
This unconventional lodging, managed by GPG Hospitality, is a pioneering, cutting-edge hotel that calls the continually evolving Freeman Alley - once a coffin factory - its home. Now, it's a bohemian retreat that caters to pop-up shows and ever-changing street art.
"The location of Peace Out along Freeman Alley empowers our guests to discover one of New York's iconic graffiti hotspots. The dynamic nature of the street-art dense area inspired our design decisions. We opted for a softer, calmer color palette within the hotel to create a tranquil transition from the spirited streets into the serene atmosphere of our lobby," said Gadi Peleg, the founding father of GPG Hospitality. "Even our name, Peace Out, encourages guests to customize their very own New York escapade."
The gallery space doubles as an 170-person capacity event and co-working area, hosting vivid works by local creators, including street photographers JDX, painter Amanda Wall, and mixed-media artist Ana Garces Kiley. Beyond the gallery lies the Bowery Garden, a supportive haven for art enthusiasts, where one can admire more enriching works. The garden notably boasts a distinctive runner designed by former marine-turned-artist 7 Liner, featuring an assortment of eye-catching calligraphies from his global explorations. For those who gaze upward, they'll be greeted by the bold, insightful 30-foot silhouettes of heroines created by artist Dylan Egon.
Each of the 200 bedrooms emphasize minimalism, boasting an understated luxury touch with a neutral color scheme throughout. Many chambers boast breathtaking views of NYC's bustling cityscape.
"Our interiors exude an urban oasis, offering spaciousness and tranquility while acknowledging the visual abundance of Freeman Alley. The strategically placed murals in the lobby and at our rooftop bar tip a hat to the art scene brewing beyond the walls," continued Peleg. "As guests journey from the pulsating street to the lobby, they can then ascend to UNLISTED, an intimate, rooftop sanctuary boasting soft velvet seating, warm jewel tones, and sensational city vistas. It's an oasis nestled within an oasis."
Right next door, you'll stumble upon Freemans Restaurant - a casual eatery and drinkery where Taylor Swift reportedly celebrated her star-studded birthday bash in December 2023.
