The rose-tinted smooching session doesn't last forever - no need to fear an endless romance here. After a passionate coupling, the male gallantly takes his leave, while the mother-to-be raises a rowdy brood of little hedgehogs alone.
According to the German Wildlife Foundation, tiny bundles of joy are popping up across the nation as we speak. So, be cautious while tending to your garden if you spot leaf piles and dead wood lurking around. Disturbing a busy hedgehog mother might cause her to relocate her nest, leaving her offspring vulnerable to starvation.
Is it love or trouble? Reading the signs to spot the difference
If you notice a hedgehog moving about in a tipsy, disoriented manner or meandering in circles, don't blame it on a romantic entanglement just yet.
