In the heart of London's Covent Garden, a historic apartment overlooking a bustling piazza has undergone a stunning transformation. Sophie Eadie and Fi Crole, two seasoned design professionals with over 20 years of experience between them, have used their expertise to create a drawing room that exudes cool, calm, and timeless elegance.

The inspiration for this serene space was a rug with easy-going shades of rust red and grey. This colour palette was carried throughout the room, with the walls, joinery, and bookcase painted in Sand I by Paint & Paper Library. The marble travertine base of the glass coffee table, chosen to complement the ancient stone artefacts in the room, adds a touch of sophistication.

The sofa in the drawing room is upholstered in Arsene by Pierre Frey, and the cushions are in a velvet by Rose Uniacke. The glass coffee table, designed to not obscure the detail of the rug, sits elegantly in the centre of the room. The bookcase, designed in-house, allows for the use of both books and collected pieces, adding a personal touch to the space.

Vaughan, a company known for its beautifully crafted lighting, furniture, and accessories, has also contributed to this redesign. However, the name of the architect or interior designer who has been combining inspiration from the past and present for over 40 years to create outstandingly beautiful lights, furniture, and interior decorations remains undisclosed.

The use of cream upholstery, once considered impractical, is making a comeback, according to Giles Kime. In a separate article, Kime discusses the technology that's bringing back cream interiors. Arabella Youens, in her article "Pale and interesting: The textile technology that's bringing back cream interiors", delves deeper into this topic.

The aim of our platform Top 100 has not changed since its original publication six years ago. It continues to include architects, interior designers, craftsmen, builders, and garden designers in Britain, bringing their exceptional work to the forefront. This redesign in Covent Garden is a testament to the talent and vision of these industry leaders.
