Guide for Adventurers: Unveiling the Medicinal Pantry
A new explorer map has been unveiled in Eichsfeld, a region in Thuringia, Germany, aiming to showcase the diverse attractions of the Nature Park. The map, developed by the Nature Park Administration, local authorities, the Eichsfeld Heimat and Traffic Association (HVE), and the Nature Park Support Association, offers an encompassing view of the Nature Park. Features include a large overview map, information on quality and premium trails, active pursuit options by bike or water, and background details on the National and Nature Park, as well as the Green Belt. The map also contains tips from nearly 40 Nature Park partners.
Replacing the previously popular tear-off block, the new explorer map comes in a user-friendly DIN A4 format. Uwe Müller, an employee for tourism and communication, explains that this format allows for the inclusion of more information, particularly highlighting the quality products in the hiking area.
Key emphasis was placed on accurately representing the diversity and beauty of the Nature Park landscape during the development process. The new overview map in the inner part was designed using up-to-date, tailored geodata, which was collaboratively produced with Bernhard Meißner from Simplymaps.
The district is supporting the project financially due to the significant role of tourism in rural areas' economies. District Administrator Marion Frant (CDU) remarks that the new map will contribute to tourist development by attracting guests from nearby regions like Hainich and Werratal to Eichsfeld. The board members of the support association, Stefan Sander and Martin Kozber, expressed their gratitude for the support.
Beyond the new explorer map, other events and opportunities in Eichsfeld are worth noting. For example, the Lingemann Gymnasium is hosting a lecture series to commemorate "450 Years of Gymnasial Education in Heiligenstadt." Another educational event is a practical seminar titled "Summer, Sun, Sea of Blossoms," led by Katharina Molnar at the Reifenstein Nature Conservation Center. This workshop focuses on creating herbal cosmetics using summer flowers and herbs.
The map is available for download from the Nature Park website or can be obtained for free, for instance, at Nature Park and Tourist Information centers. The new explorer map is not only an informative resource but an invitation to discover Eichsfeld with new curiosity.
This new explorer map highlights the diverse attractions, not just of the Nature Park, but also extends to the home-and-garden of local lifestyles in Eichsfeld, Germany.
