Fundraising Event Organized by Solid State Logic Features Ox Statues, Aid for Sobell House Hospice
Solid State Logic (SSL), a renowned name in the music industry, has lent its support to the OxTrail 2024 public art project in Oxford. The project, running until August 29, is a fundraiser for Sobell House Hospice, a cause close to the heart of Oxford-based artist Rawz, who designed the SSL-sponsored ox sculpture.
The OxTrail app, a feature of the project, enables users to discover and interact with the ox sculptures scattered throughout Oxford. By logging the codes on each ox found, users can unlock rewards and prizes from sponsors, including SSL.
Rawz's ox sculpture, meticulously crafted over nine 10 or 12-hour days at SSL's headquarters, is one of 30 life-sized oxen and 100 mini-ox sculptures located around the city. At the end of the trail, most of the life-sized sculptures, along with some of the smaller oxen, will be auctioned off, with proceeds going to Sobell House Hospice.
King Boyden, a producer and musician who runs In-Spire Sounds, an SSL-equipped recording studio in the historic Oxford neighbourhood of Jericho, is an SSL fanboy. The studio, established about five years ago, offers affordable professional recording, mixing, and mastering services and supports charitable activities.
The BiG SiX SuperAnalogue console, SSL 2+ interface, G Series Bus Compressor, LMC+, E Series EQ and Compressor modules, SSL plug-ins, and an SSL CONNEX USB mic are just some of the state-of-the-art equipment found at In-Spire Sounds. The winning entry of the fundraiser will receive a day of recording and mixing at this prestigious studio.
Rawz, who is involved with day-to-day operations at In-Spire Sounds, hopes his ox will be placed in SSL's reception area after the trail. The SSL-sponsored ox was launched at an event and dispersed onto the streets of Oxford, where it will remain until August 29.
This partnership between SSL and the OxTrail project is a testament to SSL's commitment to community art initiatives and the promotion of local culture. The OxTrail 2024 event is a unique opportunity to explore Oxford, support a worthy cause, and engage with local art and culture.
