Horizon Community Foundation Introduces New Philanthropic Program "The 410"

The Horizon Community Foundation of Northern Kentucky has announced a new philanthropic initiative, "The 410," aimed at engaging community members in grant-making decisions to improve the quality of life in the region.

The program, which targets individuals who live or work in Northern Kentucky, invites members to commit $410 annually. This collective funding will be used to support local projects that align with Horizon's priorities, such as innovative programs and solutions that leverage community resources.

Members of The 410 will serve on an all-member grant-making committee, reviewing and recommending funding projects through a democratic process that includes voting and panel discussions on focus areas. The goal is to foster a robust culture of giving and greater local engagement among small, young, and diverse donors.

The annual schedule for The 410 includes a kickoff event, focus area vote, panel discussions, funding decisions, and a celebration. This program represents a new approach to charitable leadership and local philanthropy in Boone, Campbell, and Kenton counties, centralized around the regional area code "410."

The Horizon Community Foundation, now headquartered at the OneNKY Center in Covington, has undergone several changes in recent times. The organization has officially changed its name from Horizon Community Funds of Northern Kentucky to Horizon Community Foundation of Northern Kentucky. The move to the new OneNKY Center, joining a growing ecosystem of regional organizations, and the addition of new team members such as Ashleigh Luebbers as operations and communications coordinator and Dawn Denham as director of marketing and engagement, mark a new chapter for the organization.

The Foundation's mission remains to unite resources to raise the quality of life for all people in the Northern Kentucky community. The Foundation's purpose, as a true community foundation, is to serve Northern Kentucky, responding quickly to urgent issues and investing in long-term solutions across education, health, economic mobility, and more.
