In a surprising turn of events, the custody battle and child support case between Ayesha Howard, the ex-partner of Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards, and Edwards himself, is currently ongoing. The legal proceedings started on August 7, 2024, when Howard filed a declaration in Los Angeles Superior Court regarding their daughter Aubri Summers Howard.

Howard has accused Edwards' team of delaying the case, causing her hardship as a single mother. She claims that she has struggled financially due to lost wages, opportunities, and support, while Edwards, as a multimillionaire, has the resources to withstand drawn-out proceedings.

The opposing party or their legal representatives made a request to include a breach of contract clause in the court proceeding without Howard's consent. This request, Howard considers framing her request for financial assistance as extortion to be "downright sick" and "offensive."

Howard's request for financial assistance, however, was not an act of coercion or malice, but a response to the hardship she has endured. She has also claimed that Edwards' team added a non-disparagement clause she never agreed to, and that efforts to distort the truth in this case only add to the harm.

The Los Angeles judge has granted Howard sole custody, but the final paperwork has not been signed by both parties. Until both sides sign the final paperwork, the court will not finalize child support.

Former NBA star Gilbert Arenas has commented on the legal drama involving Anthony Edwards and Ayesha Howard. Arenas expressed concern that the legal drama could derail Edwards' rise as one of the NBA's brightest young stars, and speculated that Edwards may have to pay millions "to go away" to protect his image.

Ayesha Howard, however, denies accusations of extortion. She has endured significant reputational damage, lost opportunities, and a lack of support over the past two years. The custody process between Howard and Edwards remains in limbo, with both parties yet to reach a final agreement.
