Following a seven-year building process, the Studio Museum in Harlem is set to unveil its expanded 82,000-square-foot facility in November.

The Studio Museum in Harlem is set to reopen its doors this fall, marking a significant milestone for the city's cultural landscape. According to New York City's Cultural Affairs Commissioner, Laurie Cumbo, the museum is a "pillar" in the city's cultural scene.

Located at 144 West 125th Street in Harlem, the museum will welcome visitors Wednesday through Sunday, from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm. On Fridays and Saturdays, the museum will extend its hours until 9:00 pm. The museum will be closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, but school and group tours can be arranged on those days by appointment.

Admission to the museum is by suggested donation. Adults are asked to contribute $16, while seniors (65+), students, and visitors with disabilities can enter for $9. Care partners of visitors with disabilities are granted free admission. Children 16 and under will always receive free admission. Every Sunday, the museum offers its family-focused Studio Sundays programming, which includes free admission, drop-in art-making workshops, guided family tours, gallery talks, and storytimes.

The reopening of the Studio Museum will feature a presentation of Tom Lloyd’s work, who was also the subject of the museum's inaugural exhibition in 1968. Additionally, the museum will showcase a rotating installation of pieces from its permanent collection of over 9,000 works dating back to the 19th century.

Members of the museum will enjoy an exclusive hour on Saturdays from 10:00 to 11:00 am before general opening. Tickets can be booked online or at the museum.

With its new seven-floor, 82,000-square-foot building, the Studio Museum in Harlem is poised to continue its mission of showcasing the works of artists of African descent and preserving its historic legacy in Harlem. The museum is undoubtedly one of the best museums and art galleries in NYC, offering a rich and engaging experience for visitors of all ages.
