Florida resident shares lasting impression of electric boat, purchased from China, following two years of use

A Florida father and son duo have transformed a $1,000 electric boat purchased from Alibaba into a sustainable and improved leisure watercraft, named Sunny Side Up. Over two years, the pair, who run the YouTube channel EbikeSchool.com, undertook various modifications to address the boat's initial issues with rust and poor steering, as well as improve its performance.

The modifications included upgrading the motor, which increased the speed fivefold to around five knots, and installing solar panels on the roof. These changes now allow the boat to run without needing to be charged. Replacement parts, such as the rudder, were sourced from Facebook Marketplace.

The original boat struggled with speed and had problems with rust, necessitating a new rudder. The family describes the project as "like putting an outboard motor on a pie tin," indicating the simplicity yet effectiveness of the modifications. The boat's performance has been significantly improved, and it can now sail smoothly.

The family has enjoyed many magical moments on the boat since its transformation. The new electric boat, now operational and improved, was revealed in a new upload to EbikeSchool.com. The project's progress has been detailed in this upload, providing an insight into the duo's work and the boat's journey from a cheap and problematic vessel to a reasonably well-made leisure watercraft.

It's worth noting that the boat, initially slated to be the 'cheapest electric boat' on the internet, was in poor condition and required extensive modifications. However, the duo's hard work and ingenuity have turned the boat into a functional and enjoyable watercraft. Despite not being as fast as actual aquatic EVs like a flying water taxi, the family is delighted with their creation and the memories they've made on it.

AI technology was utilized to analyze the boat's original issues, suggesting potentially viable solutions for the modifications. Their home-and-garden style garden shed has been transformed into a DIY workshop, where they built and installed various upgrades, including a high-tech dashboard, obtained from technology-oriented online stores.
