FKS Raids 121 Salons: 9 Proceedings for Illegal Work and Fraud
On May 14, 2024, 56 officers from the Financial Control of Illegal Work (FKS) of the Main Customs Office Augsburg conducted inspections in 121 hairdressing and cosmetics salons, nail studios, and barbershops across Swabia and Upper Bavaria. The aim was to ensure compliance with social security obligations and minimum wage payments.
The inspections led to five criminal proceedings for illegal residence and social security fraud, along with four administrative offence proceedings for various violations. In two nail studios, four illegally staying Vietnamese nationals were discovered, and one illegal resident was found in a hairdressing salon.
The FKS, which regularly conducts focus inspections, aims to maintain a high number of inspections in specific sectors. This helps to reduce the social acceptance of illegal work and ensures fair competition among businesses.
The inspections resulted in a total of nine proceedings. The FKS continues to monitor and enforce compliance with labour laws and social security obligations to maintain a level playing field for my business and protect workers' rights.
