Financial Grant of More Than £4,700 Granted to West Midlands Repair Cafes®
Enfinium, a leading UK energy-from-waste operator, has announced the seventh round of its Repair Cafe Support Fund. The fund, which is intended for Repair Cafes within a 30-mile radius of one of Enfinium's facilities in Kent, North Wales, West Yorkshire, or the West Midlands, reopened on 1st January 2025.
Karl Smyth, Enfinium's director of external affairs and strategic policy, reiterated the company's commitment to supporting Repair Cafe initiatives in the communities they operate in. In a statement, Smyth said, "We are committed to promoting sustainability and reducing waste, and repair cafes play a crucial role in achieving these goals."
Since the launch of the Repair Cafe Support Fund in March 2024, a total of seven repair cafes have received funding. The four repair cafes receiving the funding in this round are Friends of the Bilbrook Repair Cafe, Harbourne St John's Church Repair Cafe, Roliston Forestry Repair Cafe, and Highley Shropshire Repair Cafe.
Highley Shropshire Repair Cafe plans to collaborate with a local primary school to teach children the basics of repair and reuse. This initiative aligns with Enfinium's goal of promoting sustainability and reducing waste in the local community.
Eligible Repair Cafes can apply for funding of up to £1,500 per annum. The application deadline for the Repair Cafe Support Fund is May 2025, and the fund will run until 31st May 2025. The funding is intended to cover operating costs and launch outreach programs in the local community.
Previously, maintaining a TV for an extra seven years has been found to save the equivalent of 657kg of CO2. By supporting repair cafes, Enfinium aims to encourage more people to repair and reuse items, reducing waste and carbon emissions.
It's worth noting that no direct public data or official report on the number of repair cafes that have received funding from Enfinium's Repair Cafe Support Fund since its launch in March 2024 is accessible. If needed, this information may be obtained by contacting Enfinium directly or checking their official communications or press releases after March 2024.
The Repair Cafe Support Fund will reopen on 1st January 2025. If your Repair Cafe is within the eligible radius, consider applying for funding to support your initiatives in promoting repair, reuse, and sustainability in your community.
