Festival Features European Cinema, Music, and Cuisine in Romanian Coastal Town
The summer garden in Eforie Sud will once again play host to the Cinemascop Festival, a celebration of European film, contemporary art, and intercultural meetings. This year's edition, running from August 1 to August 10, promises to be an exciting and diverse event, featuring eight European film screenings, community meals inspired by partner countries, creative and recycling workshops, and a host of additional activities.
The festival is a collaboration between the Czech Center and the Association Forumul Artelor Vizuale, in partnership with seven European cultural institutes. EUNIC Romania, RADEF RomâniaFilm, and the local city hall are also supporting the event.
Film enthusiasts can look forward to screenings of award-winning movies such as Hugh Welchman and Dorota Kobiela's The Peasants, Bogdan Mureşanu's The New Year That Never Came, Paolo Virzì's Like Crazy, Thomas Cailley's Animal Kingdom, Martin Horský's Women on the Run, Karen Maine's Rosaline, Jiří Mádl's Waves, and Ed Perkins's The Princess.
In addition to the films, the festival offers themed community meals inspired by the cultures of partner countries. On August 1, the Polish Institute will host the first dinner, inviting the audience to savor traditional Polish cuisine dishes. Dutch pancakes will be prepared by the festival's volunteer team on August 9, while Tatar gastronomy will be celebrated on August 8. A gastronomic event featuring French cuisine, including cheeses and grapes, is scheduled for August 4.
Creative and recycling workshops will also be available to attendees. These workshops, part of the festival's program, will run from August 4 to August 7. A silent disco party is also part of the festival's program on August 9.
The festival's program includes mornings with beach sports and evenings with music and dance. Recycling workshops for children are scheduled for August 3, August 8, and August 9 to August 10.
Admission to all activities and screenings is free of charge. The summer garden, which hosts the largest outdoor cinema screen on the Romanian seaside, has been revitalized since 2018 and transformed into a national cultural hub.
This edition marks the eighth occurrence of the festival, continuing its tradition as a celebration of European cultures through cinema and art. For more information, please contact simona@our website.
