In the picturesque town of Königssee, Bavaria, a debate has been brewing over prices that some consider above average compared to typical regional standards.

The main source of contention seems to be the costs associated with tourist activities, particularly boat trips and combined sightseeing tickets. For instance, a one-way or return boat trip for an adult can set you back by around 29 to 28.50 euros, and there are no discounts for locals or pensioners, which some visitors find "hefty" and "too expensive." Combined tickets including cable car rides can cost around 54 euros, adding to the overall expense.

However, when it comes to dining, the prices at nearby restaurants, such as Gasthof Bodner in Schönau am Königssee, are considered moderate and consistent with regional standards for quality Bavarian cuisine. Dishes like a pair of white sausages with senf and a pretzel (13.40 Euro), liver cheese with potato salad and senf (16.20 Euro), and a currywurst with fries (16.90 Euro) are within the expected price range for Bavarian specialties sourced locally.

Despite this, the controversy persists, with many Facebook users expressing dissatisfaction over prices for items like a scoop of ice cream (2.50€), a gyros with fries (19€), and a currywurst (16.90€). A master chef and trainer in the catering industry even called these prices "usury."

The post about the prices at Königssee was shared in the Facebook group "Family outing Bayern" and includes photos of the menu. The decision to accept or reject these prices is up to each individual, and those who do not accept can choose another restaurant, as demonstrated by the father and son at Königssee who opted for a different eatery.

Despite the ongoing debate, it's important to note that this pricing pattern is not unusual for very popular tourist sites in Bavaria, where natural attractions command premium fees. However, locals and some visitors find it excessive compared to standard regional costs. The prices at Königssee were first discussed at the beginning of August.

In the midst of this, some Facebook users have also expressed concerns about the cost of food and drink in the town, with prices for items like a scoop of ice cream, a gyros, and a currywurst being labeled as "usury" by a master chef. On a positive note, dining establishments like Gasthof Bodner offer moderately priced Bavarian dishes, such as white sausages and liver cheese, that are within the expected range for quality local cuisine.
