Exploring Realms Beyond Artificial Intelligence: A Fascinating Journey into the World of Movie Director, MAURICE FINNES

Noted filmmaker, writer, and producer Maureen Fiennes is at the forefront of innovative and thought-provoking works that delve into the complexities of the human mind and body. Her latest exhibition, titled "YUGEN," displayed at Volte Art Projects in Dubai, features the eponymous piece that showcases visually stunning moving images on a floor-to-ceiling screen, crafted with generative coding technologies. Starring acclaimed actress Salma Hayek Pinault, the piece premiered at the Venice Film Festival in 2018.

The exhibition generated some debate concerning AI and intellectual property rights in the creative sector. Fiennes acknowledges that using AI partially owned by someone else may lead to potential IP issues, especially when success is achieved. However, she believes that AI serves as a tool for exploration and reflection of the human mind's potential, and it will never entirely replace the unique creativity and value offered by human creators.

Fiennes finds giving up some control and agency to AI a thrilling experience. Working with AI in her projects offers a fresh perspective, allowing her to hand over an aspect of the editing process to the 'machine.' Despite this shift in traditional filmmaking processes, Fiennes still considers herself the director, as she sets the potential for the final outcome while leaving the specific results unknown.

Regarding the limitations of AI compared to the human mind and body, Fiennes expresses that AI can merely replicate and repeat what it has been taught, inheriting biases present in the data it was trained on. She values the organic form connected to the pure creative force that characterizes the human mind and believes in exploring the possibilities of quantum computing for a deeper understanding of human potential.

Contrary to concerns about AI-generated poetry or paintings replacing human creators, Fiennes believes that people will always appreciate and value the human touch and emotion in genuine creations. While acknowledging the potential for a dystopian future where machines subdue human creators, Fiennes remains optimistic that most people will work towards preserving human creativity.

Fiennes is currently working on two projects - a "fate project" based on the life of Mata Hari, an exotic dancer convicted of espionage during World War I, and a limited TV series about a woman in her 70s abducted by aliens in the Midwest of America. Additionally, Fiennes hints at a new generative art project that involves extraordinary combined technologies and a fully immersive, multi-sensory experience grounded in metaphysical expression.
