Green Up, Fürth's Garden Galore!

Mark your calendars for the last Sunday of June! On June 29, 2025, the heart of Fürth will blossom with greenery, as the "Open Garden Day" returns. From 10 am to 5 pm, a slew of garden enthusiasts will fling wide the gates to their lush oases.

This isn't just a leisurely stroll through gardens; it's a chance to chat up the garden's green guides, pick their brains about everything from climate-friendly plants to eco-friendly gardening techniques. You'll also catch a glimpse of experimental gardens that grapple with the gnarly challenges of climate change.

Some highlights include the Dürschinger family's country garden in Obermichelbach-Rothenberg, swarming with pollinators and brimming with innovative fruit gardens. The emphasis here lies on effective microorganisms and Bokashi techniques. Another must-see is Michaela and Stephan Knauer's creative garden in Obermichelbach, where design elements unfold like a mystery to behold.

The grand opening ceremony will go down at 10:30 am in the Tenschert family's garden in Stein-Oberbüchlein. District Administrator Bernd Obst and Mayor Kurt Krömer will be in attendance to celebrate the power of horticulture in strengthening community ties and supporting regional culture.

Visitor Tips: Beware, parking might be tricky. It's recommended to cycle or walk short distances. Printed brochures with participating gardens' addresses are available at Fürth and Zirndorf district offices, as well as at gardening clubs. Further details, including digital versions of the flyer, can be found on the district of Fürth's and gardening clubs' websites.
