East German Museum Aims to Acquire GDR-Era Goods, Ranging From Coffee to Tampons - Exhibit transforming from brewed beverages to menstruation items: Museum from Eastern Germany

The DDR Museum in Berlin is on a mission to expand its exhibition, and they're calling on the public for help. They're particularly interested in finding everyday items from East Germany, especially from the 1970s and 1980s.

Items like coffee mix, action hairspray, and baby food are high on their list. These products were hard to come by during the DDR times, making them particularly valuable for the museum's collection. Other sought-after items include granulated sugar, table salt, seasoning, Wofasept bottles, Perfect ladies' pads, Immuna tampons, and Club Cola and Tempo beans.

Museum Director Gordon von Godin has already announced the receipt of cosmetic donations from the Florena series, including lipstick and hairspray. These additions demonstrate the importance of museum collections in preserving everyday objects, providing a tangible link to the past.

If you think you might have a DDR treasure hiding at home, the museum encourages you to get in touch. You can send them a photo or a short description via email. The museum will promptly reply with thanks and either confirmation or rejection. It's important to note that the museum does not accept products on-site.

The "Berliner Kurier" previously reported on the museum's call, and now, they're asking people to search their basements, attics, or households for such items. By doing so, you'll be contributing to the preservation of history and helping to create a more immersive experience for visitors at the DDR Museum.

So, if you have any of these items gathering dust in your home, consider donating them to the DDR Museum. Together, we can help to preserve a piece of East Germany's past for future generations to learn from and appreciate.
